The Americano believes in a strong and productive economy based on free markets. Economic freedom, based on free markets,is of individual and social importance because of its capacity to guarantee effective results in the production of goods and services. As part of our liberty and constitutional rights, we support free markets because real competition and economic activity free from government control is the best economic form for general prosperity and freedom. Government´s role in this regard should be limited to preventing and dealing with fraud, crime and abuse, and maintaining an environment which promotes free competition and trade. Government is not to take over or to operate businesses in competition with the private sector. On the contrary, it ought to promote commerce and free trade by minimizing taxes and regulation. We believe in encouraging a strong capitalist private market system, in which he government serves only as a mediator, allowing the private sector to operate itself, while keeping within the scope of constitutional law and the laws of their State. We believe in the need to prepare for and capitalize on the coming explosion of scientific and technological knowledge. Private industry understands how and why do to things in a superior and more cost-effective way than anything the government can do, with the exception of military and law enforcement protection, emergency protection, and handling foreign affairs including immigration regulations.
