One wonders how difficult it would be to remain the "Empire of Liberty" if the rest of the world were taken over by our enemies. Sometimes intervention is a necessary evil. Imperialism and interventionism does little more than spend vast sums of American tax dollars with little to nothing to show for it. You're right that the West would not have won the Cold War without the US but perhaps we should rethink how much the world actually needs American interventionism which comes at the cost of American tax payers and American blood.
