Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine issued a statement commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month, which began on September 15.
Among other things, the DNC Chairman repeated some of the talking points of his party and the White House. “President Obama –insisted Kaine- has recognized the importance of Hispanics in our national dialogue and nominated more Hispanics to serve in high office than ever before”.
In his statement, Kaine stated that Hispanics voted in overwhelming numbers to elect President Obama last November and, as a result, the United States has seen transformative change on issues important to Hispanics and our nation as a whole.
Converting the celebration of Hispanic National Heritage Month into a political speech, Kaine mentioned some of the actions taken by his party: “expansion of children’s health insurance, equal pay for equal work, bringing our economy back from the brink, and the appointment of Justice Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.”
Kaine never explained how President Obama and the Democrats have brought the U.S. economy “back from the brink,” or how these other measures have truly helped the Hispanic community in the U.S.
The next part of his statement used again Hispanics Heritage Month to promote the President´s plans for health care: “This month is also a reminder that there is much more to accomplish. President Obama is working for health insurance reform.”
According to Kaine, that reform will provide more security and stability to people who have health insurance and will provide insurance to those who don’t.
“For Hispanics, Kaine said, insurance reform is crucial: One out of three Hispanics under 65 is uninsured, and many more lack adequate coverage.”
The final part of the statement included a clear path to agitate Hispanics to promote Obama´s healthcare: “As we look at the work ahead of us, I know that Hispanics will play an active role in bringing about important and positive changes throughout America.”
On the other hand, the Republican National Committee had its own statement without politicizing this Hispanic celebration. Michael Steele´s words were to the point.
“Today, -said Steel- I am proud to join with my fellow Americans in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Between September 15th and October 15th the Republican National Committee will partner with the Hispanic American community to honor their past, present, and future contributions to our great nation. I hope all Americans will join me in celebrating the cultural richness the Hispanic American community has brought to America throughout the years.”

The Democrats have no pride when it comes to using events, no matter how sacred, for their own gain. It is nauseating.
