The Bureau of Labor and Statistics released its monthly jobs report and the numbers are troubling.
The economy shed another 190,000 jobs in October, bringing the number of jobs lost since Obama was sworn in to 3.8 million.
Worse still, the unemployment rate rose from 9.8% to 10.2% percent. With only 130.8 million jobs in the U.S. economy, President Obama is now 7.8 million jobs short of what he promised the American people.
In October, the number of unemployed persons increased by 558,000 to 15.7 million.
The unemployment rate rose by 0.4 percentage point to 10.2 percent, the highest rate since April 1983.
Since the start of the recession in December 2007, the number of unemployed persons has risen by 8.2 million, and the unemployment rate has grown by 5.3 percentage points.
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (10.7 per-cent) and whites (9.5 percent) rose in October.
The jobless rates for adult women (8.1 percent), teenagers (27.6 percent), blacks (15.7 percent), and Hispanics (13.1 percent) were little changed over the month.
The unemployment rate for Asians was 7.5 percent, not seasonally adjusted.
The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) was little changed over the month at 5.6 million.
In October, 35.6 percent of unemployed persons were jobless for 27 weeks or more.
The civilian labor force participation rate was little changed over the month at 65.1 percent. The employment-population ratio continued to decline in October, falling to 58.5 percent.
The number of persons working part time for economic reasons (sometimes refer-red to as involuntary part-time workers) was little changed in October at 9.3 million.
These individuals were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job.
This numbers make President Obama’s stimulus an objective failure.
The Employment Situation for November is scheduled to be released on Friday, December 4, 2009.

Since the government can’t solve the problem, it’s time the people start facing unemployment with their own ingenuity:

So, is this to say that Hispanics deserve jobs more than other Americans? Now that times are getting tough, it’s time to play the race card, right?
Hey Proud Gringo. You are the only one playing the race card here. The Americano is a website focused on American Hispanics. The report released by The Bureau of Labor and Statistics gave the data and it was divided into demographics. This guys at The Americano simply reported the information. You want to be such a fanatic and see race everywhere, you may as well vote for the Democrat Party. What is your problem?
Dear Proud American, my problem is that Hispanics are always pointing fingers at White people, calling them Anglocentrists, yet they have absolutely no compunctions whatsoever about advocating solely for their own kind and playing the race card whenever it suits them. The Hispanic caucus is a shining example of one race of people playing the race card, way up at the national level.
Oh lordy, proud gringo you are delusional if you don’t think all races play the race card at some time or another, many for evil. Hitler, he was a huge race card carrier OR the KKK, also huge race card carriers. I can go on and on.
You sound like a spoiled child who doesn’t want to be kind to others. You sound bitter and just plain nauseating.
You’re playing the race card and have on several articles. I enjoy the articles on this site and respect many of the points of view. Now if you want to whine please don’t attach the adjective Proud in front of your race name Gringo. Proud White Boy gosh that doesn’t sound like you’re using race at all.
Give it a rest and go hunting, watch a Nascar race you know go do something gringo-like. You have been tossing racial comments all through this site I figure you can handle one. Now have a nice night and try to be open minded, ok Gringo?
Hunting, NASCAR- you’re the one throwing around the sterotypes here, Pat.
I see the comment sections have heated up since my last visit to the site. There are some good discussions going on here, heated yes, but necessary. You must be doing something right then Americano to attract the buzz. Keep up the great work.
Leo, I agree. Discussion are great and education is key. However, it is important that not only we as Hispanics are educated on this country, but that non Hispanic Americans realize that deep roots that Hispanics have in this country.
Proud Gringo, I advise that you go into the Hispanic Heritage section of this site and read FACTS about the first Hispanics in the U.S. and their dedication to this country. Maybe then will you stop being so racist and critical and realize that many of us are all on the same side. Yes, we too are Americans. Crazy thought, huh?
