Sarah Palin
Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin´s autobiography, Going Rogue. An American Life, is being released today and it has already been at the top of bestseller list for weeks.
The publication of the book is already sparking a lot of discussion and speculation about her political future.
Sarah Palin’s book has been at the top of bestseller lists for weeks and the former vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor finds herself back in the national spotlight.
In the book, Palin details a tense relationship with campaign aides working for last year’s Republican presidential candidate, John McCain.
Palin is honest in admitting that she did not perform well in a much-quoted interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric. But that was not how the McCain campaign saw her performance.
Palin spoke about her book and the tensions within the McCain campaign in an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
“The campaign said, ‘right on, good, you are showing your independence, this is what America needs to see, and it was a good interview’. And I’m thinking, if you thought that was a good interview, I don’t know what a bad interview was because I knew it wasn’t a good interview,” Palin said.
The book does not indicate whether Palin will run for president in 2012, as many of her supporters hope.
Palin is very popular with conservatives and she is feared by Democrats. She remains one of the most popular national political figures for conservatives
On the left, media insists on the idea that voters do not believe she is qualified to be president.
Former McCain aides are responding to some of the complaints detailed in Palin’s book and disputing her account of what happened.
Many conservatives, and also some prominent Republicans believe Palin could be a formidable presidential contender.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich recently said about her: “I think she will be a very significant factor in 2012 and I think that anybody who underestimates her runs the same risk they did with Ronald Reagan.”
Even though Palin is staying quiet about her political future, she will take a bus tour to promote her book that will pass through several states usually critical in presidential elections including Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania.
Her Facebook page is followed by almost 1 million people. It now includes Palin´s reaction to the false reports made by some news outlets about her book.
According to Palin: “They’re now erroneously reporting on the book’s contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We’ve heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, “fact checking” research! Imagine that – 11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to “fact check” what’s going on with Sheik Mohammed’s trial, Pelosi’s health care takeover costs, Hasan’s associations, etc. Amazing.”
In her post, Palin also states: “We’ll keep setting the record straight, and we’ll keep reminding some in the media that Americans are very tired of their non-objective reporting. As always, they did a great job holding some of the media accountable for spreading more misinformation and for making things up.”

I’m not a fan of Palin’s. I feel she’s mediocore and in no way good enough to hold higher office. She lacks intelligence, it’s very obvious when she speaks. The Republican Party is always putting the wrong people forward and she is a prime example. I understand we want a conservative female representative but this is the best we have? It looks like the GOP needs to start a new search because she’s not cutting it. I heard her book is being sold for less than $5 on Amazon
Who cares about males or females? That is not conservatism. What we need is a good leader or the GOP and Palin ranks among the best with Newt Gingrich. So please… if you just want to insult Palin, go to the Daily Kos and meet your friends there. By the way, Pat, Mary is right about your spelling…
Hey Pat, maybe you are the mediocre here and not Palin as you seem to be unable to spell correctly some words and, most importantly, for not having any realistic political arguments against Palin. Please do not dring the Kool Aid from the state-run-media… This is a serious news outlet.
Mary = stop worrying about typos on a web news site and more about what I said. Please enlighten me on “realistic political arguements” on why Sarah Palin should be in the Republican spotlight and what she really brings to the table. You know besides her “maverick” attitude, dorky laugh and finger pointing. I agree with F. Rivera we don’t have to like Palin. She’s embarrassing and I wish the GOP would stop ramming her down our throats.
I enjoy many of the articles here and don’t need you to remind me that I’m on a serious news outlet.
Hey Pat, te lo digo en español a ver si así entiendes mejor. Veo que sigues con errores ortográficos en inglés. “realistic political arguements”. Arguments, not arguements… Look, let us just begin with 3 things that Sarah Palin defends: “Life”, “Liberty”, “Pursuit of Happiness”. Translated for a RINO like you: strong and clear opposition to abortion, individual freedom in all areas, small government. Pat, tell me one other prospective candidate in the Republican Party who is as clear about this as Sarah Palin. El problema no es Sarah Palin sino gente como tú que se dedica a insultar a Palin sin entender prácticamente nada.
@Mary: Sarah is that you? Ha! We don’t have to like Palin. You need to stop boozing on PalinAid
Hey Rivera, otro que tal baila y van dos. Why don´t you bring some arguments to the table instead of playing funny. Hopefully you will not do as Patty Pat who started the conversation by insulting Palin.
By the way, Rivera… are you also a fan of Rivera Live? Merjo hacer un honor a tu apellido y hablar un poquito en la lengua de tus ancestros.
@Mary: you’re sad. Spanish is not my ancestors language. Stereotype much? I’m black and was adopted by a Hispanic family. Your comments along with Marks are fanatical because you act like she’s so special nothing negative can be said about Palin. Don’t try to censor me! People like you and Mark keep the conservative movement from moving forward.
You can like Palin or you can dislike her. It is up to you but you also need to stop boozing on LiberalAid.
That post was for FRivera, of course.
People have the right to their opinions. Some of you are acting like you own the comment section and you’ve resorted to childish name calling. Grow up! Because they don’t like Palin they are liberals? Quite a stretch.
Mary – you have typos in English AND Spanish!
This is the worst comment thread I’ve seen at the Americano.
Monica, what is childish about rebutting comments that began by insulting Sarah Palin? People have the right to their opinions, of course, but it is not proper to insult.
@Monica. My comments about F. Rivera and Pat are simply a call for these readers to stop using this news outlet to insult Sarah Palin. If they disagree with her is one thing but insulting and name calling is another story.
@F.Rivera. There is nothing fanatical about asking for some kind of civility instead of insulting. Palin was insulted in this comments thread by Pat and you followed up with irony about it. As far as her being special or not, I personally find her quite special as she is the only true conservative candidate the GOP has now together with Newt Gingrich. So it is people like you and Pat who are keeping the conservative movement from moving forward by trashing one of our best candidates.
I like Newt but to claim he’s a conservative is rather funny (23). We need articulate, True conservatives who appeal to all Americans not just one group, race to represent us. Are you hoping for a Newt-Palin 2012 ticket? Newt possibly if he redeems himself, Palin not again, My opinion always. Great discussion. God Bless. See you on another section hopefully
@F.Rivera. Newt is a conservative, no question about it and he should lead the path for another comeback in 2010 like in 1994. Any ticket that includes News is a winner!
