Since President Barack Obama was elected and appointed members to his administration, Chavez has criticized the 44th President.
Several news agencies are now reporting that during Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to Latin American countries this past week, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called her the “blonde” version of her predecessor Condoleezza Rice.
Chavez recently commented on United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to Latin American countries last week. The Secretary of State said the policies towards Latin American countries by the Obama administration have helped those nations and have deterred the criticisms made by Chávez.
Chávez referred to comments made by Hillary Clinton as she visited Brazil and explained that she is as equally aggressive as former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to several news agencies.
The website of the government of Venezuela quotes Chávez in part (in translation):
“I spoke with [Brazil Foreign Minister] Celso Amorim and he told me of a very funny remark he made to the secretary of state, Mrs. Clinton, who, like Condoleezza Rice, only this time a blonde one, came to Brasilia to attack Venezuela,” the president said.
“Mrs. Clinton comes, and shows right in front of Celso – who is a great friend – disrespect to Brazil, disrespect to South America, disrespect; she comes to intrigue and to sow discord, saying that Venezuela is continuing to erode democracy and that whole story; that Venezuela should look south and follow the example of Brazil or Chile. …,” continues the website report.
“Then Celso, after standing near this lady who was saying all of this, made a comment and put her on the spot: he said he didn’t agree with everything the secretary was saying, except for the part about Venezuela now looking south. And with very fine humor, he said because yes, we are now to the South,” related the president.
In this regard, says the note, Chávez considered that her statements amounted to an, “international aggression, which is undoubtedly a concerted assault. It is a concert, an orchestra, and it is the U.S. empire pulling all the strings in Spain, in Europe; nor is anything said of this in the great newspapers of the world, the major newspapers, television stations, and television networks.”
Other news agencies, like DNA India, notes that officials from the former Bush administration and Chavez exchanged words on a consistent basis in the past and since President Barack Obama was elected and appointed members to his administration, Chavez has criticized the 44th President.
Chavez called for Pres. Obama to give back his Nobel Peace Prize, while also accusing the U.S. government of occupying Haiti and accidentally causing the devastating Haiti earthquake by using their HAARP system, which was meant for Iran.
Although Chávez´s comments are clearly an indication of his lack of respect for freedom, democracy and the most basic collegiality with other leaders in the world, this situation comes after she failed to convince Latin American leaders to stop supporting Iran.
Clinton´s failed trip to Latin America, the initial doubts expressed by the White House last June about supporting or not the Honduran Constitution and the legal expulsion of Manuel Zelaya from the country, point to the fact that the Obama administration is carrying out very weak policy in Latin America.
