Estados Unidos considera dar entrada a presos cubanos

The English Only Workplace

By Ricardo González.

This morning I was walking in my neighborhood and came upon some landscape workers who were speaking with one another in Spanish. As I approached, one said, “good morning.” I replied in Spanish with “Buenos días, ¿cómo están esta mañana?” They replied in English, “We’re doing well, thank you.” I didn’t ask but they may have an “English-only” policy in their company with outsiders.

Why are Latinos late?

By Ricardo Gonzalez.
A few weeks ago I sent out a request to students asking them to tell me what they would like me to address in my blog posts. One student wrote in the following…
Hi Ricardo,

I’ve always been curious about why Latinos relate to time the way they do. I understand that in their [...]

Chávez enturbia la cumbre latinoamericana y se enzarza contra Uribe

Los países latinoamericanos iniciaron esta semana en Cancún, México, la llamada Cumbre del Grupo de Río. The Double-Whammy Lou Dobbs Latino Backlash

by: Ricardo González
I’ve been telling business and political leaders for years that a significant positive action towards Latinos will many times create an equal or stronger backlash with existing constituents. In other words, they must clearly understand the impact, or better yet, make decisions out of conscience rather than polling numbers and surveys.
I saw this [...]

Are All Latinos Happy that George Lopez is the New Latino Poster Boy?

By Ricardo González.

Are all Latinos happy that George Lopez has become somewhat of our Latino poster boy? Granted, he came out of poor and rough means and I understand that, I really do. I also respect that he has been able to overcome his upbringing and succeed in this great country. I also come from [...]

Stereotypes and Racism

by: Ricardo González
Not all stereotypes are bad. Most non-Latinos look at the Latino culture and see it as fun, gregarious, relational and family-loving. Most people think that most Latinos are good dancers and have a lot of rhythm. Many Latino men are very happy to hold the “Latin lover” stereotype so often ascribed to them.
Those [...]
