More Americans seem to be drinking the tea of fiscal conservatism with a shot of Palin. Once viewed as a flash-in-the-pan rally of anti-government sentiment, the Tea Parties have taken political root, are spreading rapidly, and gaining strength. The question is can the GOP drink the tea too.

The question is on everybody’s mind. Where has the fire-in-the-belly of presidential candidate Barack Obama gone? It certainly wasn’t evident in his second presidential address from the Oval office Tuesday. And it hasn’t been evident in his recent campaign speeches. We can’t talk about his press conferences, because he studiously and assiduously has avoided them.

First the facts, The “Restoring the Honor Rally” led by talk show host Glenn Beck and former Alaska Governor and GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin took place in front of the Lincoln Memorial. The crowd filled the mall, and adjacent areas. The other, a much smaller gathering led by the Rev. Al Sharpton took place a few blocks away.

The issue that will decide this November midterm elections and the control of Congress for the next two years is the lack of jobs in the country and a much weaker than expected economic recovery. No, the President does not appear to have time to speak about the economy.
