One-in-seven new marriages in the United States are interracial or interethnic, according to two studies conducted by the Pew Research Center.
Among all newlyweds in 2008, 26% of Hispanics married someone whose race or ethnicity was different than their own. Hispanics ranked second only to Asians , 31%, among the ethnic and racial groups studied by the Pew Research Center. Nine percent of whites and 16 % of blacks married someone of a different race or ethnicity.
