As the immigration debate rages on, strategists for both sides see this as an opportunity to create a wedge issue that will separate their respective parties’ ideologies, especially as the 2010 midterm elections roll around in a few months. The Republicans see this as an opportunity to throw political red meat to a base that strongly favors anti-illegal immigration efforts and the Democrats see this as an opportunity to shore up sinking numbers with Hispanic voters, painting the Republicans as

This comes not from elected Republican officials, or from news analysts. This comes directly from a top level administration official. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said so directly Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press.

In an attempt to prevent the state of Arizona from implementing its own immigration law at the end of July, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit Tuesday that claimed the law is "invalid" and interferes with federal immigration responsibilities.

The suit, which names as defendants both the state of Arizona as well as Gov. Jan Brewer, was filed in the U.S. District Court in Arizona and asks the court to "preliminarily and permanently" prohibit the state from enforcing the law, which is scheduled to go into effect at the end of the month.

By Star Parker.

New Census data show the continued trend that the United States is becoming a nation increasingly less white. According to this latest report, 48.6 percent of children born in the U.S. between July 2008 and July 2009 were "nonwhite minorities." That's up 2 percentage points from two years earlier, and soon the figure will cross the 50 percent mark. The largest growth demographic is Hispanics, who accounted for almost 55 percent of our population growth. And, most of this growth - two-thirds - came from births, not from immigration.

The Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) convention signified the growing weight of libertarian sentiment among so-called conservatives. When the detestable Ryan Sorba was booed off stage for his anti-gay remarks it was a clear indicator that conservatives seem willing, at least for now, to acknowledge that their social purity strategy is a clear loser in the eyes of the electorate. The growth potential for the GOP is not in “family values”, but among those who want limited government.

In this day in age our society suffers from polarization and apathy. Conservative Americans do appear to be waking up from their slumber due to the radical shift the Obama administration has taken. However, many people in this new 'Wake Up' movement are without guidance, and without guidance from honest and moral people they can easily be led astray.
