Proposition 8 Trial Comes to a Close

Vaughn Walker, the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, heard closing arguments Wednesday in the case to overturn Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriages in California.

The constitutional amendment, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, was included on California ballots in the 2008 election and was passed by 52 percent of the state’s voters.
