Feds Charge Al Qaeda Operatives in N.Y. Subway Plot

Five men, including a senior al Qaeda leader, were charged with planning and attempting last September’s failed suicide attacks on the New York City subway system Wednesday.

Adnan El Shukrijumah, Adis Medunjanin, Abid Naseer, Tariq Ur Rehman, and a man known as “Ahmad” were charged with ten counts, which include conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction, conspiring and attempting to commit an act of terrorism across national boundaries, conspiring to provide and providing material support to al Qaeda and conspiring to commit murder abroad.

5 American Muslims Convicted in Pakistani Court

Five American men were convicted of terror-related charges in Pakistani court Thursday and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The five citizens, Umar Chaudhry, Ramy Zamzam, Ahmad A. Minni, Waqar Khan and Aman Hassan Yemer, all attended the same mosque in Fairfax, Va., and were arrested in December after their families reported them missing. At the time, their ages ranged from 18 to 24.

Two Arrested at Kennedy Airport on Terror Charges

Federal and local authorities arrested two New Jersey men at Kennedy International Airport late Saturday on charges they were traveling to Somalia to join an Islamic extremist group that wants to kill Americans.

The two men were arrested separately before they could board their respective flights to Egypt, where they would board another flight that would take them to Somalia. Authorities identified the two men as Mohamed Haoud Alessa, 20, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 24.
